The morning of Tuesday August 29, 2017 we awoke to find 3 feet of water from the San Jacinto River in our home. In fact, our entire community and much of the greater Houston area were equally impacted by Hurricane Harvey. It was heartbreaking as our home was a little over 1 year old and as we were being taken out by boat; thinking about rebuilding was furthest from our minds. Our first order of business was clean up and second was to find a trustworthy and highly qualified firm to help us rebuild. The cleanup part was easy thanks to friends and family. But finding someone we could trust to help us rebuild was difficult given the widespread devastation and demand on such services.

We found Chris Hinton and Studio H + H Architects and convinced him to take on our project, even though his plate was already full will numerous flood related projects. But that overwhelming workload didn’t compromise the attention he paid to us and our project. From our first meeting I knew we had found the right guy. As we walked the project site and he was taking notes and pictures it became clear he really cared about helping us get our lives back together. The questions he asked were meaningful and his recommendations were thoughtful and valuable as we went through the rebuilding process. His team of tradesmen and craftsmen were top notch; they were always pleasant, cleaned up after themselves every day and charged reasonable market prices that were not inflated given the circumstances.

Chris’s experience and guidance was invaluable and the end product far exceeded our expectations. The schedule Chris outlined was spot on and his team delivered exactly what they committed to and at the time and price they promised. We could not be happier with the work performed; we would recommend Chris for any project, large or small.

We met Chris 3 years ago knowing we wanted to remodel our entire downstairs. He came up with a vision which we loved however we put on hold until we knew we were completely ready for the remodel (having 3 kids and finding the perfect time). We thought we were going to be ready in Spring of 2018 however God had a different plan when Hurricane Harvey came through. Being flooded we knew we didn't want to put Sheetrock where Sheetrock was going to be in our dream plan so we contacted Chris to see if he was available. From the bat, he was honest knowing he had other clients who flooded and had to take care of first so we came up with a game plan knowing we had to wait a little. Waiting for his expertise was the best decision we made! Throughout the process he was there, from picking out tile, to giving advise on flooring, counter-tops, fixtures, paints, working with the different trade specialists and even going downtown with me to pull the permits for our remodel since the city of Houston was giving us a hard time and the list can go on. Listen, I'm a man and I leave the decisions about the house to my wife (good or bad) but I will tell you Chris' knowledge and what he gives advise on is more than opinions but a true taste on what you're trying to accomplish. As I look back on this I can tell you the worst thing was that we flooded from Hurricane Harvey however the best thing was having studio H+H architects remodel our house. We went from throwing everything away downstairs to coming home to the dream home we always wanted. Again, remember this is from a man's point of view.

Project Date: July 2016

Project Price Range: more than $100,000

In 2016 we purchased a house in The Woodlands, Tx in need of major remodeling. In the very early stages of our remodel we recognized we needed a firm that was familiar with the unique requirements of The Woodlands and it's Township committees. Having only worked with Houston based architects we turned to Houzz for recommendations for architects based in The Woodlands. Houzz came to the rescue pointing us towards Chris Hinton of Studio H + H architects and what a wonderful choice Chris Hinton has been. From concept to final drawings to implementation Chris has been with us and our contractor all the way, step by step. Chris took the time to listen to our wants and needs and put them and his ideas altogether in drawings. He truly has great vision, he is very creative and very detailed. He has gone over and above the call of duty, whether it comes to determining the elevation of a faucet or virtually placing furniture in a room or locating excellent local trades. Chris has always obliged, always cooperated, never complained and always has great expert advice. We could not have done it without him and we wholeheartedly recommend him to anybody taking on residential construction/remodeling of any size. Chris takes the scare out of the nightmares many have experienced when undertaking a remodel!
